Sharon Dede Padi “Padiki” was a Ghanaian artist whose passion for nature and culture made her a record-breaker and inspiration to many.
Record-breaking Legacy
Padiki made history on 28th December 2024 as the first person to set a Guinness World Record with a 54.33 m² leaf-print painting. That massive artwork, made in Accra, used natural leaves to paint Ghana’s flag and celebrated the country’s culture and environment. She always loved painting and in 2022 she launched her own Padiki Art Gallery in Accra, serving as CEO and mentor to young artists. Padiki also held roles on Ghana’s Digital Centres board and was also appointed as an International board member of the Curatorial Board of the Pan African Heritage World Museum
Padiki’s art always reflected her love of nature and Ghanaian culture. She painted with leaves, cocoa, plantain, cocoyam and more and even turned them into poetry. You can find her artwork all over Ghana.
Legacy and Tributes
Padiki’s passing on 7 July 2026 sent shockwaves through the creative community. Padiki was one of Ghana’s most celebrated artists and will be sorely missed. However she has built an epic legacy which will continue to grow in the next generation of artists.
